Our Green Energy and Board Management team represented by Marek Noetzel, CEO, Eliza Predoiu, CFO, Andrei Radu, Group Development Director, and Andrei Horhoianu, Group Head of Energy, have just inaugurated our second greenfield solar park in Ariceștii Rahtivani (Nedelea), Prahova County, near Bucharest. With 56.2 MW of installed capacity, it is one of the largest solar facilities in the county and part of our €100 million investment programme in green energy.
Here’s what the new park brings:
📐 75.5 hectares and 90,000 latest-generation double-sided solar panels
⚡ Around 73,000 MWh of renewable electricity a year, the equivalent of the annual consumption of more than 40,000 Romanian households
🌍 About 17,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided every year
🐑 A new use for degraded land: the park sits on a former mineral extraction site and local farmers’ sheep now graze between the rows of panels
🔋 Ready for battery storage in the future
📈 Together with our first greenfield solar park at Chișineu-Criș (Arad County) in western Romania inaugurated last year, and the rooftop systems on our shopping centres, this lifts the share of NEPI Rockcastle’s self-produced electricity supply share to 31%. Two years ago, it was 6%.
